G&L Asat Bass
When Leo Fender introduced the G&L L•2000 bass in 1980, it was clear he was set to make history once again. No bass before it offered such an expansive tonal range, and the L•2000’s legacy has continued to captivate bassists across all genres. With the arrival of the ASAT guitar in 1986, Leo quickly adapted its distinctive body shape to a bass design. The result was the ASAT Bass: an L•2000 with an ASAT-style body and a narrower 1 1/2″ nut width for improved balance. This unique combination produced one of the most visually striking basses Leo ever created, retaining all the power and versatility of the L•2000. Aerosmith’s Tom Hamilton became a fan in the ’90s and even developed his own ASAT Bass Tom Hamilton signature model.
At the core of the ASAT Bass are two G&L Magnetic Field Design humbuckers, controlled by the versatile Tri-Tone system. This system gives you an impressive range of tones, no matter the style of music. It features three mini toggles for pickup selection, series/parallel routing, and active/passive switching, along with knobs for volume, treble, and bass. This setup provides the flexibility to cover everything from classic R&B grooves to hard-hitting rock and funky slap lines.
Additionally, the ASAT Bass is equipped with Leo Fender’s innovative Saddle-Lock bridge, which transfers string energy directly into the body end-grain for outstanding resonance. The C-shaped neck, with a 9 1/2″ radius and 21 Jescar 57110 medium-jumbo nickel-silver frets, ensures smooth, comfortable playability. This combination of design, tone, and playability makes the ASAT Bass a true workhorse, ready to perform in any musical setting.
This Asat bass is in very good condtion. Minimal fret wear. There are some scratches from normal playing wear.
